Pace Bend Park

Pace Bend Park welcomes you to the hilly side of Texas with around 1368 acre of pure, unadulterated nature. Wildlife enthusiasts, travelers coming with family or even the adventurous lot would like to indulge in most of the activities here in Pace Bend Park. For the adventurous kinds, this park offers camping grounds and for those who appreciate wildlife, it features not just wild animals but a variety of birds. Pace bend is home to a numerous animals including cacomistle, also known as a miner's cat, raccoon, the unique whitetail deer, ringtail cat, fox and many other kinds of wildlife maintaining a natural environment around. Though the park itself is accessible through a well maintained paved road, interiors can be explored through the many trails cutting through the vegetation. One may travel to the park either on a pony, or on bicycle.

48 km from Austin, considered to house one of the best swimming locations, Pace bend is a multi faceted park which gives one a unique camping experience too. Camping can be done either in the park or on the beach. There are several camping locations with amenities such as drinking water, timber and even a telephone in at least one of the coves, located within walking distance. It is a great place to enjoy barbeque, where the park is equipped with grills and areas meant for picnics at a comfortable distance. Those camping around need to keep in mind that any of the activities they indulge in should not cause any disturbance to the other campers. To ensure this, from 10 at night to 7 in the morning, any form sounds are not encouraged.

Apart from this, dogs or any other pets are suggested to be put on a leash, so that they do not wander about causing any kind of commotion. Though, the crowd coming to the park depends on the season and time of week, where it is packed during the weekends, it is best to book a camping site in advance, possibly 2 weeks before coming to the park, as the better ones are most likely to get occupied faster. Throwing of garbage is strictly not allowed anywhere other than the cans placed for it. This is in an attempt to maintain the ambience, the freshness and the natural beauty of the place.

Boating is one of the most loved activities around the place, as families accompanied by children can be seen cruising on the lake. However, a word of caution for weak swimmers, that there are no lifeguards in or around the park. So adults are advised to be careful about the safety of their children while going in the water with them.

People coming here also enjoy other sports such as mountain climbing, an adventurous experience for all those keen to enjoy the beautiful view of the Lake Travis at the end of the climb, from the high rocky cliffs. The view at the time of sundown is enchanting and the most admired one. A jump in the water from here could just get rid of your fear of height and end up leaving you refreshed and geared for another climb and yet another jump!
